Kelsey Woods

About
Kelsey Woods (she/her) is an emerging Brisbane based installation and sculptural artist studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts) at QUT.
Kelsey is the President and Creative Director for QUT's art collective, PostDatum, launching exciting programs, workshops and events to elevate and introduce emerging QUT artists to the growing arts community and real world experiences in 2025. In addition to this, Kelsey worked with senior lecturers Dr Naomi Blacklock and Dr Charles Robb throughout 2024 to deliver an Inspired Creatives and Creative Arts and Design workshops to high school students as a Student Ambassador for Queensland University of Technology.
Practice
Focusing on fusing digital mediums, sculpture and performance, Woods’ practice explores contemporary relationships between herself and society, responding to taboo topics such as violence, death, poverty, mental illness and her experience living with a disability. Recently, Wood's has been investigating themes of the Medicalised Feminine and identity.
Woods' practice extends into the therapeutic space, as she works in peer support facilitating creative arts therapy for individuals with disabilities at AB Consulting & Counselling Ipswich. Collaborating with her clients influences her process greatly. By role modelling the consideration of ceramic sculpture to be free from expectations and restrictions, Woods uses sculpture as a therapeutic tool to gain a deeper understanding of the subconscious.
