Curiosity Nests

Curiosity Nests (2024), is a site specific, immersive auditory installation that invites the audience to engage with Barrambin's (Victoria Park) natural environment during their annual Green Hearts Fair. Through a fusion of organic and electronic materials, ‘noise makers’ concealed within the nesting boxes replace the once organic voices of wildlife with modern technology. This installation incorporates diverse audio and visual elements to promote sustainable practices, Barrambin’s rich cultural history and its regenerative future through contemporary art. Curiousity Nests aims to inspire Green Heart Fair audience members to reflect on their relationships with the environment and the significance of preserving culturally significant green spaces. Each nesting box will be restored and donated to the Brisbane City Council following the Fair.
