Estrangement is a delicate, hand built vase adorned with the visceral words 'Putrid Fuckin Flesh'. Estrangement is accompanied by a 2 minute time based piece.
This work viscerally investigates contrasting language associated with family, love, sisterhood and motherhood. Estrangement incorporates animal flesh to explore themes of forced domestication, coercion, overproduction, and the exploitation of women by patriarchal and progenitor expectations. Estrangement is accompanied by a 2 minute time based work. Woods uses symbolic context to express strong emotion and powerful language to its most extreme. This work invites the viewer to analyse and apply the written words to their own context.
